Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy refers to hands-on therapeutic approaches, which I have found to be very specific to help my clients get better faster. I have a big tool box filled with many hands-on modalities, and I have learned over the years to integrate them, so you may experience many within a session. Prior to delving into the following innovative therapies, I successfully helped my clients with pain and injuries using soft tissue and joint mobilization, and exercise. Now, with the addition of advanced training in the following therapies, I am able to integrate and quicken the recovery of my clients, plus address many more health issues as an Integrative Physical Therapist.
CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on approach that evaluates and releases restrictions in the craniosacral system, to strengthen the body's inherent ability to heal. Dr John E Upledger, developer of CranioSacral Therapy, clarified, "the craniosacral system is a functioning physiological system composed of cerebrospinal fluid, the membranes that contain it, its osseous attachments, and the mechanisms that produce and reabsorb the cerebrospinal fluid. It has powerful influence over the nervous, endocrine and immune systems, and a total-body effect. It is also characterized by a palpable, rhythmic, mobile activity that persists throughout life."
SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is an aspect of CranioSacral Therapy which involves a therapeutic process to help release physical and emotional trauma from the body, using hands-on therapy and dialogue. You are in charge of your process, and my job is to guide you toward inner clarity, when the need presents within your session. I am an expert in listening to your body cues and guiding you into deep release and integration, as it relates to your health and life today. Multi-hand sessions are also available with another Advanced CranioSacral Therapist.
While helpful for many health issues, since they assist in restoring the body's self corrective mechanism, CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release most directly help medical problems related to the central nervous system, head, jaw, and spine. Health issues positively affected by these therapies include autism, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), concussion, migraine headache, vertigo and dizziness, tinnitus, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD), neck and back pain, and scoliosis. Plus, they help with stress and trauma release - anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); immune support; endocrine and nervous system balance.

Lymph Drainage Therapy
Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a gentle hands-on approach that assists the lymphatic system in activating its fluid circulation, to promote deep relaxation and health. Dr Bruno Chikly developed this original specific method, using sensitivity to the lymphatic rhythm which he discovered. Lymph Drainage Therapy helps access parasympathetic nervous system response, moving us away from sympathetic "fight or flight or freeze" mode and into "rest and digest" mode.

Dr Jean-Pierre Barral developed this unique method and continues to expand on its principles. Pelvic Floor Therapy
Pelvic Floor Therapy is a hands-on approach that evaluates and addresses issues related to the pelvic floor muscles, those that cover the bottom of the pelvis, between the pubic bone in front and tailbone in back. With my advanced training in the therapies mentioned above, my style is gentle and thorough. Working directly using intra-vaginal Pelvic Floor Therapy is a more efficient option when indicated by diagnosis, manual evaluation, and response to treatment warranting a more direct approach.
Helpful for incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, urinary frequency, and interstitial cystitis.

"I was in a car accident and out of all the physical therapists, massage therapists, and chiropractors I saw, Germaine was the only one who was able to untwist my leg from the way it was injured. Every time I see her, I feel so much better and more able to thrive rather than just survive." E.S.
